Let see what happens

– the Blank Slate: The Modern Denial of Human Nature.

Often we wait, we wait for confidence to emerge, miraculously.
Before we act, before we try this or take that on.

Because at some point, we will feel ready right?
We will be assured of ourselves and our ability to succeed?

But when? Is it going to be a few hours, a month, a decade?
What is supposed to happen between now and when we are ready?

It’s always good to work on ourselves. But when do we feel ready enough, is it still there? Also until tested, what is that confidence worth?

If we do nothing, it might grow at 2-6% APY. It might not. The world might catch up to you, and what was intermediate is now hard.

How do we know much confidence is enough?

If we worked on ourselves, maybe 19% APY. or really just 9%. But without seeing ourselves tested, how do we really understand our confidence really means

But what If we took a chance on ourselves and made something happen, maybe 11%, 17-21%, 40%?

So you are willing to proceed with uncertainty. Let us explore the notion of investing in confidence.

Where do I start?
You can take stock of what you are able to do presently. While it can feel like you cannot do anything sometimes. But we know that you know that to be a statistical improbability. Or is there something you have been curious about. Take some time and ponder.

Once you have identified something, create a goal where you aren’t quite sure whether you will succeed. Let your adventure begin.

There is a relationship between competence and interest.

How much confidence am I leveraging here?
It’s up to you, just as long as you’re leveraging some. You may also find that your relationship to risk will shift.

Returns
More confidence, beginnings of momentum with a touch of thrill.

Diversify
Invest in yourself in different aspects of life.

Not all your ventures will pan out. But, maybe you can still maintain momentum.

Moreover, the more engaged you are in the world, the more you will find that parts of your life converge.

Losses
Failure will happen. It will hurt and it is supposed to. It’s the tails side of glory. But as you are hurting, you are also becoming a little more familiar with failure. And hopefully you are finding it a little less scary.

Research
I want to clarify that I am not suggesting that we approach a venture without homework. Nor am I suggesting that you should. There are just no 100% assurances at the end of the day.

Overleveraged.
Be cautious, move at your own pace but move. There is such a thing as doing too much, and not having enough resources to give each venture a fair shot, one might call it self-sabotaging.

Consistency

I am not necessarily discouraging you from day dreaming about one day being the top dog. But I am not encouraging you to either. Especially when who you might become is different from the fantasy. Keep the attention to the present and the next venture.

________________________

Perhaps it is worthwhile to understand why we seek confidence. Feel better about ourselves? Sure. But what after? Are we just sitting at home feeling all confident?

Imagine how you might live if you had a little less doubt or worried a little less. How might this world open up and where will you go?

We use confidence to do things. Often we think of doing things to be confident.

I wonder if it’s similar to the fallacy of chasing happiness. let confidence be, it might catch up to us?

In the meantime, we can

It is important to note that confidence is measured here as someone’s willingness to engage with the world, and how active a role they want to
play. Confidence cannot be made of accomplishment alone. It requires that we accept who we are.
